Further informationAbstract: The Lane-Emden heat flow system, originally introduced to model heat propagation in a two-component combustible mixture, has been the subject of intensive study for more than three decades. The corresponding steady state problem, the famous Lane-Emden system, has received even more attention. With many fundamental questions still open, in this talk we will discuss some recent progress which has been made, as well the relationship to classical results concerning scalar problems. In particular, we will see that in an appropriate norm, radially symmetric ground states of the elliptic steady state problem are in fact stable solutions of the parabolic system, once we are on or above a critical curve. This talk is based on joint work with Paschalis Karageorgis (TCD).
