Neil Dobbs

will speak on

Pressure and the Hausdorff dimension of Julia sets

Time: 3:00PM
Date: Tue 10th September 2024
Location: E0.32 (beside Pi restaurant) [map]

Further information

Abstract: Bowen's formula says that the first zero of the pressure function is, in certain settings, equal to the Hausdorff dimension of a fractal set. I will explain this idea and how it can be used to estimate the dimension of quadratic Julia sets.
