Abstract: The notion of optimal polynomial approximants arises naturally from classical problems in function theory. Such polynomials approximate, in some optimal sense, reciprocals of functions in certain weighted Hardy spaces on the open unit disc. In this talk, I will present some results on the growth and the convergence properties of optimal approximants of reciprocals of polynomials with simple roots.
