Abstract: I will present an overview of the operations of MeteoGroup, and the process of making the transition from studying for the MSc in Meteorology at UCD to practical forecasting in the commercial arena.

I will also describe my experience of the day to day tasks and the demands of working as a forecaster in a 24 hour environment over the past 18 months.
