will speak on
Brauer relations
Time: 3:00PM
Date: Wed 14th October 2009
Location: Mathematical Sciences Seminar Room

Abstract: Classically, Brauer relations are relations between class numbers, regulators and order of groups of roots of unity of subextensions of a given finite Galois extension of number fields. Those relations fit in fact in a broader context, that of relations between permutation representations. I will introduce the basic elements of this theory, giving concrete examples and applications.
