Professor Eva Bayer-Fluckiger (EPFL)
will speak on
Lattices and number fields
Time: 4:00PM
Date: Wed 25th March 2009
Location: Mathematical Sciences Seminar Room
[map]
Abstract: The aim of this talk is to study lattices naturally defined over number fields, and the interaction between the geometric properties of the lattices and the arithmetic properties of the number fields. The talk will also present two motivating examples: upper bounds for Euclidean minima, and lattices having automorphisms with given characteristic polynomial. In particular, we will discuss some progress on a classical conjecture of Minkowski, as well as a question of Gross and McMullen.
(This talk is part of the K-Theory, Quadratic Forms and Number Theory series.)
