Modelling "real" neutron stars; dissipative multi-fluid systems in general relativity

Time: 2:15PM
Date: Thu 29th May 2008
Location: Mathematical Sciences Seminar Room [map]

Further information

Abstract: In this talk I will describe the challenges associated with modelling realistic neutron stars in general relativity. The development of such models is motivated by the needs of gravitational-wave "astronomy". I will describe why we have to consider multi-fluid systems, what this means for the models and how our understanding of this problem has developed in the last few years.

(This talk is part of the Applied and Computational Mathematics series.)
