(CANCELLED) On shocks in TASEP

Time: 2:00PM
Date: Wed 25th March 2020
Location: Seminar Room SCN 1.25 [map]

Further information

Abstract: The TASEP particle system runs into traffic jams when the density of its initial particle configuration increases in the direction of flow. It serves as a microscopic model of shocks in Burgers equation. I will describe work with Jeremy Quastel where, for a basic setup, we identity fluctuations of the shock by using determinantal formulas for correlation functions. These are described in terms of random matrix laws.
