Dr Jose J. Ramon Mari
will speak on
On the Lefshetz Standard Conjecture
Time: 5:00PM
Date: Wed 14th February 2007
Location: Mathematical Sciences Seminar Room
[map]
Abstract: The subject of the talk will be Grothendieck's Lefshetz standard conjecture B(X), which says that a certain operator, Lambda, on the cohomology of the smooth projective variety X is algebraic. Our main result is that if X has dimension n, and if B(Y) holds for all smooth projective varieties Y of dimension n-1 over the field k(t), then Lambda - p is algebraic, where p is the restriction of Lambda to a certain small subspace of cohomology.
