Time: 2:00PM
Date: Thu 17th October 2019
Location: Seminar Room SCN 1.25 [map]

Further information

Abstract: The problem of universal norms appears in Iwasawa theory, notably to establish Galois descent result for Selmer groups, known as ''control theorems''. It was first studied by Mazur in his foundational work on Iwasawa theory for abelian varieties. The problems for abelian varieties has been solved by Coates and Greenberg. I will explain their result and its role in Iwasawa theory, and if time allowed, I will talk about a generalization of their result for p-adic Galois representations.

(This talk is part of the Algebra and Number Theory series.)
