Abstract: Semisimple Hopf algebras can be regarded as a generalization of group algebras and many properties from group representations can be transferred to the category of representations of semisimple Hopf algebras. After an introduction in the theory of Hopf algebras we will investigate some of these properties. Among them, kernels of representations and Brauer's theorem for faithful representations will be presented. The connection between normal Hopf subalgebras and kernel of representations will also be studied if time allows.
