Title:
Excitation of scalar oscillation modes in neutron stars
Time:

Scalar-tensor theories of gravity are among the simplest extensions of general relativity. I will discuss on possibilities of using neutron star phenomenology to constrain such theories. In particular, I will introduce a class of quasinormal modes that is absent in general relativity but is typical of scalarized neutron stars. Such oscillation modes might get excited in binary neutron star systems, and leave an imprint in the corresponding gravitational waveform.
